Linkert Carburetors made the M77 for Harley-Davidson. Linkert’s blueprint was issued in 1949-1950 (there is no official H-D documentation of the M77 being installed on a H-D motorcycle, discovered at this time).

The only related documentation is mentioned several times in Bruce Palmer’s books ‘How to restore Your Military H-D 1932-1952’ concerning the Dutch (Netherlands) ANWB (Dutch Automobile Association) importing after WWII U.S. Army Military WLA and WLC motorcycles and fitting them with sidecars. See pages 19 and 20. And the carburetor listing on ‘Into The Wilderness’ lists the M77 as being produced for the Dutch of 100 to 150 units in 1952. In discussions with the owner of ITW his long time associate in the Netherlands with quite some experience with the WLH’s and the M77, states the M77s were installed on the WLAs imported by the Dutch after WWII and were painted and plated the same as the M88’s.

NOTE: The M88 carburetors the were installed on WLAs between late 1941 to 1950. Also, 1,025 WLAs were produced by H-D between 1949-1952. (After WWII)

The series of photos of the M77 shows the OD green paint, the throttle lever and base that came out in 1949 and used until 1958, the fuel strainer 1942 -1949, and the fuel bowl is a SV type 2 also consistent with 1949 -1950 used from 1939 to 1950.
