HALF-MOON HOLE IN CHOKE DISC INFORMATION

I can’t find any reference in any H-D reference books, photos, or in any H-D parts catalog concerning this issue. I have received one comment from a person of considerable knowledge (expert) who firmly stated, “It (half-moon choke disc) is not a H-D part!” However, in assembling this collection of Linkert carburetors I have found the M31, M41L, M4, M11, & M21 (2 M21’S), all from different persons, in different states and one M21 from a different country, and collected over several years, and they all had the half-moon hole choke disc(s). These carburetors appeared to not have been altered in many, many years. (These carburetors are on this web site under ‘BEFORE’.) I have also contacted several other knowledgeable persons concerning the half-moon choke disc(s) and none responded either way except the one statement above and one other sent me pictures of a restored M4 with the same half-moon choke disc as found and of a M21 unrestored still mounted on an unrestored H-D, (shown below). I will continue to do research on this issue.
